July 7th, 2010

The 7th of july is a special day. It is the day when the Germans will make it into the Worldcup finals, hopefully! The german matches so far have been amazing!! Though Spain is said to be the next World champion, I hope that we will be able to beat them like we did with England and Argentina. After all, it is my birthday today and would there be a better birthday present than the victory of the german national team?

This day is celebrated big in Japan for a different reason, Tanabata. The story behind that festival can be found in one of my blog entries two years ago: 7.Juli.2008

Mein Wunsch lautete natuerlich:

Today the Japanese write down their wishes on paper strips and decorate bambus branches with them. My wish is of course:

tanabta

With three girls I went to see the match in a sports bar in Ebisu. Since of us was from South Korea, we were of course supporting the korean team! Because of the history between Japan and Korea, I expected most of the people at the bar to be fans of the argentinian national team, but when Korea scored that one goal, the cheering was much louder than for any of the argentinian goals!

Every time when Argentina shot towards the korean goal, my korean friend was near tears. She is so cute. Although she is not a soccer fan, she said that she couldn´t bare watching her country lose. Wow, that´s the strong korean mentality!

Though they beat Greece 2-0, the Koreans were powerless against Argentina and the final score was 4-1. Unfortunately, one of them was an own goal and two others looked awfully like offside to me… but Messi is just unbelievable and Argentina was the stronger one to have earned this win! But there is still another match to play, so South Korea still has big chances to make it to the next round.

bah

But now it is time to cross your fingers for Germany!!
Let´s go, Deutschland☆☆☆★!!

I had dinner with David from Ghana, Camilla from Brazil and Maggy from Canada. Since we are all half Japanese, so we spoke in Japanese together which must looked funny to the other customers. The last time we all got together was at our report on the Red Bull Air Race. The day before it was David´s birthday, so I went to the restaurant a little earlier because the restaurant owner had told me on the phone that it is ok to bring in a cake and they would keep it in the fridge for me. David had told me to meet at the station but I sent him a message pretending that I had misunderstood and went straight to the venue by mistake which seemed to have annoyed him a tiny little bit.

Once we all got together, we soon reminisced about  the funny happenings with the different “sport!” jobs, especially the one we all had done together – the Red Bull Air Race. It was the only time that we did a report together and we all agreed that it was lots of fun and wished that there had been more team jobs. During our delicious dinner, we exchanged our experiences and what we had learned. Of course, we also had chats about love matters! Because we are all very different in our personality, it was a fun talk!

After dinner, the owner of the restaurant dimmed the lights and brought out the cake. David didn´t think that the cake was meant for him and sang Happy Birthday along with us. It was when he saw the plate on the cake and read his own name on it, when he finally  realised that we were celebrating his birthday. He is sooo funny! And our surprise was a full success!!

davidbday

Next month, Maggy´s and Camilla´s birthdays are coming up and we made plans to meet up again then. I wonder if another surprise is possible? Maybe not that soon again? But I am looking forward to that day! Good times with fun collegues, I am glad that our paths had crossed.

The report I did on Fukuoka will be on air tonight! I am introducing a lot of different delicacies, sightseeing spots and hot springs! I am a little worried about the Onsen scene – me taking a bath on TV, hmmm… I am looking forward to see how the director cutted the different scenes together!

The twin music unit “Red Pepper Girls” from Korea came to our TV show “The Goldenhour” tonight! I have met them through the friend that is on the picture above. Mami and Mai are two cute and very sexy girls that had their major debut in Japan last year. Nevertheless, they agreed to come and perform live in our studio! Those hot girls brought an even hotter present  - a spicy korean chili sauce. The host of our show, Mr Tokumitsu tried it – first he was smiling because one of the twins fed him the sauce, but soon his big golden smile disappeared and he was caughing like hell! It made him almost speechless, but he took it like a man! I haven´t tried the sauce because I am not a big fan of spicy stuff, but after the show the twins gave me a bottle of the sauce as a gift… Yay??

In the TV show “Kinkyu! Sekai summit Takeshi JAPAN 2″ I made a comment about how I think that japanese people often ignore a problem until it becomes too big and then discuss it forever instead of taking steps to solve it. In my opinion japanese people generally don’t take the initiative. I compared them to a school of sardines that look like swimming around in circles forever. Unfortunately, I couldn´t finish my comment, because the american guy sitting next to me took the chance that the camera and mics were so close by and cut in. He apologised later and said he “thought” that I was finished (yeah right! lol).

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that once japanese people come to a conclusion, they all follow what the group has decided, no matter if they personally agree to it or not. In Germany, there would be still people here and there that keep arguing and disobey. But in Japan, they all follow the same direction, like a school of sardines – which I think makes them then very powerful!

My collegue Kintero from MXTV “The Goldenhour” sent me a pic that he took while he was watching the show. Thank you, Kintero, but… unfortunately, my eyes are shut… lol!!
